More than a million Zetor Range 1 tractors, one of the most dependable tractor designs, are on the job in just about every part of the world. The new generation of Zetor Range 1 tractors is the Proxima series.

The Proxima series has been further refined. Every Proxima combines the heavy, tough, reliable and easy-to-service Zetor Range 1 chassis with new, more powerful, state of the art engines, updated transmissions with easier shifting, new hood, updated controls, more powerful hydraulic systems, simplified wet disc brakes and a wide range of other improvements.

What did not change is the basic Range 1 concept: Exceptional value for the money.

The open station models are all-mechanical tractors, thoroughly engineered using up-to-date technology in every aspect, while emphasizing the highest possible reliability and very easy and inexpensive servicing during their entire life.

Even the cab models are still basically all-mechanical design, but use some electric or pneumatic controls to enhance the comfort. Minimizing the number of mechanical controls penetrating the inside of the cab also keeps the cab well sealed and quiet.

Zetor Proxima series are general purpose tractors in 67 to 90 engine horsepower range (60 to 78 PTO horsepower)

Engine:

Ever since 1946, Zetor tractors have used Zetor's own engines. The Proxima series is equipped with the new generation of Zetor engines. New engines bring more power and much higher torque, along with smooth run and excellent cold weather starting. The large displacement of the new engines is based on proven higher-horsepower Forterra series engines, with horsepower designed to meet the needs of Proxima tractors. This family of Zetor engines has become legendary during their 15 years of production for their reliability, extremely long life and easy servicing.
The new engines are product of quality engineering and decades of Zetor engine design expertise. Using state-of-the-art engine technology, the new engines meet EPA Tier 2 emission regulations without affecting their highly regarded fuel economy. At the same time, Proxima engines maintain proven all-mechanical controls, so future servicing is greatly minimized and simplified.

Transmission:

Several transmission choices are available:

A smooth shifting synchronized transmission with 10 forward and 2 reverse speeds is available on some models

Fully synchronized mechanical shuttle transmission is standard on most models. It has 12 speeds forward and 12 reverse and improves the productivity of loader work dramatically.

The speed in high gear has been increased to shorten travel times between work sites (approx. 20 mph at high idle).

Brakes:

Wet disc brakes are highly efficient, yet engage very smoothly. They were designed for practically maintenance-free life. Due to the large number of plates (eight total) and their superb friction material, the brake wear is minimal. Brakes are cooled and lubricated by a continuous flow of the transmission & hydraulic oil.

All brake controls such as cylinders and lines are newly designed and externally mounted.

PTO:

The PTO on Zetor Proxima is so efficient that the difference between engine and PTO horsepower is kept to a minimum, typically 5-7%.

An independent PTO is standard on all Proxima models, operated by a separate PTO clutch, fully independent from the engine clutch. Series 74 and 84 feature standard dual speed 540/1000 rpm independent PTO (except for models with shuttle reverser, which only have 540 rpm PTO). Series 64 tractors have 540 PTO speed only.

All models also have standard ground speed PTO, which makes it possible to reverse the direction of PTO rotation (for example, to reverse the rotation of a post hole digger), a unique Zetor feature. The PTO can be run in reverse even while tractor is not moving.

Ground speed PTO also makes it possible to run low-horsepower implements, such as water pumps or generators, extremely efficiently. For example, you can run your PTO at 540 rpm while engine is at low idle.

The Zetor PTO clutch is mechanically controlled, so it engages smoothly and precisely. The operator is always in full control of PTO engagement. Shocks in the implement driveline can easily be avoided, no matter how heavy an implement is connected.

Also available on all models: Front 3-point hitch with 2600 lb capacity and front PTO (1000 rpm, 45 HP max.). Front PTO and front 3-point hitch can be mounted separately, or combined. They can also be added later as dealer-installed accessory.

Cab:

Comfortable cabs and platforms have always been a Zetor tradition. The Proxima comes with an updated, state-of-the-art design, quieter and more refined than ever. The spacious cab has a level, uncluttered floor. Large window area provides excellent visibility in all directions. The cab is mounted on state of the art cushion supports to reduce vibration and noise. Fully upholstered fenders and thick floor insulation package keep heat and noise out.

Three-Point Hitch and Hydraulic System:

Zetor Proxima tractors are equipped with Zetor's own traditional and well known Zetormatic hydraulic system, upgraded with more power and new features, while maintaining the simplicity of the open center design.

Zetor's heavy-duty 3-point hitch has very high lifting capacity (6,830 lb on most models). Such lifting capacity far exceeds most tractors of the same category. There is even an optional second booster cylinder available for all models, raising the lifting capacity to 8,000 lb. So, there is ample power to handle even the heaviest implements of the future. The hitch is adjustable to both Category I and II. The seat position and large window area ensure good visibility of the 3-point hitch and of the drawbar.
